Office container collections

Container collections for your workplace

Make it easy for your team to keep 10c drink containers out of general waste. We'll help plan collection points around your kitchens, meeting rooms, cleaners and building access.

What your workplace receives

The practical commercial facts

Set up a simple path from office kitchens and meeting rooms to one safe collection point.

Full 10c refund

Offices with an ABN or ACN, and registered charities, receive the full 10c for every eligible container.

Free bins and pickup

We recommend the bins for your kitchens, floors and storage area. Agreed ongoing bins and pickup are free for approved partners.

Message at around 90%

Your office contact tells us when the bins are around 90% full. Regular servicing is discussed later if collection history supports it.

Fit the building

Share cleaner roles, lift or loading access and the refund preference so the office setup works from day one.

Why it works

A simple routine people can follow

Office collections work best when the bins are easy to find and somebody owns the day-to-day routine. We can help you keep the setup light while still making responsibilities clear.

Easy staff participation

Clear signs near kitchens and lunchrooms help people make the right choice without extra fuss.

A role for cleaners

If cleaners move the containers, include that task in the routine you agree with them.

Support from facilities

Facilities or office management can look after access, storage and any recurring issues.

A useful 10c return

Your organisation can agree where the recorded refund value should go.

Around the office

Start where drinks are finished

You do not need a bin everywhere. A few well-placed points can capture the regular office stream and still cater for occasional events.

Kitchens and lunchrooms

These are usually the simplest places to separate staff drink containers.

Meeting and training rooms

Catered sessions may need a nearby point or a quick pack-down plan.

Workplace events

Temporary signage can make larger staff days easier to manage.

Shared buildings

Building rules, lifts and loading access may shape where the final collection area sits.

How it can work

From the kitchen to one collection area

We'll work with the people already managing the office so the service fits the way containers move through the building.

  1. Choose the main points

Focus on the kitchens, lunchrooms and event areas that produce most containers.

  2. Give people one clear message

Use simple signage so staff know what belongs in the collection.

  3. Bring containers together

Your nominated team moves suitable containers to the agreed storage area.

  4. Make the collection

We collect from the agreed point using the access details confirmed with you.

Keep it clean

Clear labels prevent most mix-ups

Place the office collection beside the normal waste and recycling system, but make the difference obvious.

Examples of ineligible containers, including plain milk bottles, cask wine, coffee cups and large juice containers.

Keep these out

Coffee cups, food, general rubbish, paper, cardboard, jars, broken glass and non-eligible containers.

Empty drinks first

Ask staff to finish or empty drinks before placing containers in the collection.

Keep lids with bottles

Follow the current eligibility guide for presenting lids and containers.

Check event areas

A quick check after catered events helps keep food and cups out.

Fix repeated confusion

Move the sign or point if the same rubbish keeps appearing.

Your collection setup

Agree the practical details before you start

We'll discuss expected volume, available storage, site access and the people involved. We recommend the bins, confirm the refund destination and start with collection when bins reach around 90% full.

Collection timing

Message us when the bins are around 90% full. We can discuss regular servicing later once there is enough collection history.

Free bins and signs

Approved commercial collection partners receive their agreed ongoing bins free of charge once we understand the space and container stream.

Full 10c refunds

Businesses with an ABN or ACN, and registered charities, receive the full 10c for each eligible container. Other organisations can discuss their situation with the team.

Reporting

If you need collection information, explain how your team plans to use it.

Offices FAQs

Questions about office collections

Straight answers to common questions about setting up collections at a site like yours.

What do approved commercial collection partners receive?
Businesses with an ABN or ACN, and registered charities, receive the full 10c for every eligible container. Approved partners also receive their agreed ongoing bins and commercial pickup free of charge. Other organisations can contact the team to discuss their situation.
How do we start, and who chooses the bins?
Use the commercial collection enquiry and share your organisation, site, volume, storage, access and refund preference. Sandgate Bottle & Can Exchange recommends the bin setup. The account, Member Number, payment or donation pathway is confirmed during onboarding, and bin numbers or sizes can be reviewed as real volumes become known.
When will our containers be collected?
When you first start, message the team when the bins are around 90% full and we will organise the collection. Once enough collection history shows the site's normal volume and fill rate, regular servicing can be discussed if it would suit the site.
What if we already have a stockpile of eligible containers?
Mention it in the enquiry. The team will review the amount, storage and access, then explain the most practical way to handle the existing stockpile and the ongoing setup.
Can we start with one kitchen or floor?
Yes, a smaller starting area can be discussed. It can help your team test placement, staff participation and the internal routine before adding more points.
Can our cleaners move the containers?
They can if that role is agreed with the cleaning provider. Make sure the route, storage point and person to contact are clear before starting.
Can meeting and event containers be included?
Yes, where they are eligible and your team has a simple way to separate and move them after the event.
