Turn your club's containers into refunds

Game days, clubhouse trade and functions can generate thousands of 10c drink containers. We'll help your staff and volunteers set up a collection routine that can direct recorded refunds back through the club's agreed arrangement.

What your club receives

A practical setup for training, games and functions

Use a clear everyday routine, then plan separately for the bigger peaks on the club calendar.

Full 10c refund

Clubs with an ABN or ACN, and registered charities, receive the full 10c for every eligible container.

Free bins and pickup

We recommend bins for bars, canteens and secure storage. Agreed ongoing bins and pickup are free for approved partners.

Message at around 90%

The club contact messages us when bins are around 90% full. Regular servicing is discussed later if real club volumes support it.

Plan for event peaks

Tell us about fixtures, functions, volunteer roles, gate access and where full bins can wait securely.

Built for club life

A routine volunteers can actually manage

The best club program is easy to explain on a busy Saturday and easy to reset for the next training night.

Club staff

Can manage bars, canteens and secure storage as part of normal close-down.

Volunteers

Need short instructions and collection points that are obvious at a glance.

Committee

Approves the program, the refund purpose and the main club contact.

Members and visitors

Participate more easily when signs show what the collection supports.

Around the club

Capture the busy days and the quiet ones

The volume may change sharply across a club calendar. Plan everyday points first, then add temporary options for bigger events.

Bars and canteens

Separate containers where staff already handle empties during service.

Training and fixtures

Place simple points near approved player and spectator areas.

Functions

Plan setup, pack-down and storage before the event begins.

Clubhouse and staff areas

Keep a reliable base stream between major match days.

How it can work

One club routine for every event

Collection points can change with the event, but the final check and storage process should stay familiar.

  1. Set everyday points

Start with the bar, canteen and main clubhouse areas.

  2. Add event points

Use temporary signs and bins for fixtures or functions where needed.

  3. Check and secure

Staff or volunteers remove rubbish and move containers into locked storage.

  4. Collect and record

We collect from the agreed point and record returns under the club's arrangement.

Game-day clarity

Make the right bin easy to spot

Spectators and volunteers make quick choices, so simple placement and signs matter more than long instructions.

Examples of ineligible containers, including plain milk bottles, cask wine, coffee cups and large juice containers.

Keep these out

Food, coffee cups, disposable serveware, broken glass, sports equipment, general rubbish and non-eligible packaging.

Pair bins carefully

Put the container point near general waste without making the openings look the same.

Brief event volunteers

Give the closing team one clear check and storage instruction.

Watch high-traffic areas

Move or relabel points that repeatedly attract food and rubbish.

Secure between events

Keep stored containers protected when the club is unattended.

Your club setup

Put the refund to work for your club

The committee can agree how refund value is directed. We'll also plan bins, storage, collection timing and any useful reporting around the club's real calendar.

Club purpose

Use the agreed refund for the club or direct it to an approved community cause.

Event calendar

Share major fixtures and functions that may change volume.

Volunteer ownership

Keep the regular task small enough to hand over when people change.

Collection access

Confirm gates, keys, venue trading and a reliable club contact.

Sporting Clubs FAQs

Questions about sporting club collections

Straight answers to common questions about setting up collections at a site like yours.

What do approved commercial collection partners receive?
Businesses with an ABN or ACN, and registered charities, receive the full 10c for every eligible container. Approved partners also receive their agreed ongoing bins and commercial pickup free of charge. Other organisations can contact the team to discuss their situation.
How do we start, and who chooses the bins?
Use the commercial collection enquiry and share your organisation, site, volume, storage, access and refund preference. Sandgate Bottle & Can Exchange recommends the bin setup. The account, Member Number, payment or donation pathway is confirmed during onboarding, and bin numbers or sizes can be reviewed as real volumes become known.
When will our containers be collected?
When you first start, message the team when the bins are around 90% full and we will organise the collection. Once enough collection history shows the site's normal volume and fill rate, regular servicing can be discussed if it would suit the site.
What if we already have a stockpile of eligible containers?
Mention it in the enquiry. The team will review the amount, storage and access, then explain the most practical way to handle the existing stockpile and the ongoing setup.
Can game-day and function containers be included?
Yes, where the club has suitable points, a pack-down plan and secure storage for eligible containers after the event.
Can the refunds support the club?
The club can discuss how recorded refund value is directed under its arrangement, including an approved club or community purpose.
Can volunteers manage the collection points?
Yes. Keep their role simple, show what belongs in the bins and nominate a staff or committee contact for problems.
How should we handle big events?
Tell us about major fixtures and functions. Temporary points and an event close-down routine may be more practical than changing the everyday setup.
Will every club achieve the published result?
No. The result belongs to one participating club during the recorded period. Club activity, eligible volume and collection arrangements vary.
